This post is all about how to make glazed biscuit donuts.
Y’all! This is one of my favorite sweet cravings recipes. If you are anything like me, you almost always have a pack of Grand’s biscuits in your fridge. And if you do, you probably already have the rest of the ingredients for this recipe in your pantry.
This recipe uses an air fryer, so you can take away some of the unhealthiness that comes with deep-frying a donut. While this biscuit donut is not nearly as airy as Krispy Kreme’s famous glazed donut, the icing emulates almost the exact same flavor!
As an obsessed Krispy Kreme fan, I can tell you, you won’t be disappointed with this glaze. In 20 minutes you will have a delicious biscuit donut, doused in icing and even better when eaten warm.
Glazed Biscuit Donuts
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- Small Pot
- corer/small circular cookie cutter I used a small heart cutter which works just as well!
- mixing bowl
- whisk
- measuring cups/spoons
Ingredients
Biscuits
- 1 can Grand's Biscuits DO NOT GET FLAKY LAYERS
Simple Syrup
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Glaze
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup Simple Syrup 1/4 cup of sugar + 1/4 cup of water boiled on the stove until the sugar is dissolved
Instructions
- Make your simple syrup first by adding the sugar and water in a small pot and turning on medium high heat. Stir every so often until the sugar dissolves. Once the syrup has boiled, remove from the heat and set aside.
- On a cutting board, remove the biscuits from the can. Use your small cookie cutter to make holes in the center of the biscuits so they resemble donuts. If you use an oddly shaped cutter, use your hands to shape the inner part of the donut into a circle.
- Start the air fryer at 350 degrees. let sit for a couple minutes before adding the biscuits.
- While you wait make the glaze by adding the powdered sugar, milk and simple syrup to a mixing bowl and whisk together. Set aside.
- Put the biscuits into the air fryer where they aren't touching and bake them for 5 minutes.
- When done, remove from the air fryer and let sit for 30 seconds. Then dip the donuts face down into the set aside glaze and lie them back down on a plate, parchment paper or even a rack with a dripping plate underneath.
- Eat them warm just like Krispy Kreme Donuts that just came out or seal in an airtight container for later!
This post was all about how to make glazed biscuit donuts. With this almost foolproof recipe, I hope you all enjoy the sweet and fluffy biscuit donut.
