I have been dying to perfect the delicious Snickerdoodle cookie for the longest and I have the best recipe for you all today!
These are the BEST snickerdoodle recipe I’ve made and had! If you like cinnamon, sugar, and a soft, chewy cookie center this is the recipe for you.
Tips and Tricks for Soft and Chewy Cookies
I want to share some tips on how I get these snickerdoodles, and all my cookie recipes to be soft and chewy.
In this recipe I opt for a higher oven temperature and an extra egg to my recipe compared to other cookie recipes I have in order to achieve softer cookies, but here are some other tips that can work for any cookie recipe to make them soft and chewy.
- Higher Oven Temperature: The higher the oven temperature, the less your cookies will spread, this will allow them to not get too thin and crispy, keeping them thick and soft
- Extra Eggs: Eggs are know to give moisture to cookies, so adding either another egg or another yolk will give a thicker
- Shorter Baking Time: Many times people overcook their cookies because they still look underdone. Cookies continue cooking even when outside of the oven so it’s smart to take them out before they are completely browned and having a shorter baking time will make them stay soft once they are cooling
- Brown Sugar: Brown sugar is another ingredient that adds moisture to cookies. While I don’t use brown sugar in this recipe, my chocolate chip recipes have a ratio of more brown sugar to white sugar because I want a softer, chewier cookie.
If you want more baking tips like these for other desserts like how I make my brownies fudgy and thick, check out my last blog, Butterscotch Sea Salt Brownies.
If you have any rules you swear by for delicious soft cookies, let me know in the comments and tell me how you enjoyed these cookies! 🙂
